If you are looking for inspiration for a small space, here it is. Check out this boathouse renovation. It has a very scandi + industrial vibe!
I have finally been able to watch an episode of Fixer Upper, with the amazingly talented Chip & Joanna Gaines. I follow their blog and have seen the images of their work but i had never seen an episode of the show until now. I love their style and ability to mix farmhouse with modern in most of the renovations they do. I watched an episode the other night that made me ooh and ahh with the final transformation.
They took an old boat house, this colour and material palette & created a completely fabulous result.
The open plan kitchen space is pure genius to run the counter all the way down one wall. Open shelving and those overhead lights are a genius way to overcome lack space due to a window. They have gone right over what would be considered a no go zone but without taking aways from the view and adding extra style.
I just love the use of awnings over windows inside. It is not the first time I have seen them and they can look great and add an extra element to the design. Keeping the colour palette consistent is one of the reasons this small space seems much bigger. Moving from room to room the black, white, tan and timber tones work to make the space feel cohesive.
Quad bunks were the ideal space saving choice and in a space where you could go nautical i love that they have taken a more industrial theme approach. The bathroom with its mainly black tiles is proof that even in a small space black does not mean it will look small or closed in. The tiles create a sense of luxury and character in what is a very tiny bathroom.
This renovation proves regardless of whether you have a large or small space, on land or on water…you can design any space to look and feel amazing. One of the reasons I love this reno so much is that they did not go for the obvious nautical or coastal theme.
